  • The Spartanburg International Festival took place on October 5, a morning in which I had an indecisive moment about my plans whether to attend that day. I cut to the chase and flipped a quarter that came up heads in the affirmative. The way was set. My sights were set on trying whatever Indian cuisine that was on offer there. I have an inordinate constitution when it comes to spice, and for years I've been looking in earnest for a spot remotely local to get my fix on food with authenticity from a cultural expression that is dear to me. Far off places were found, but never anything close to home. Even amidst a boisterous festival, one would have no struggle discerning the personality emanating from the Persis tent with Cima. “The best Indian food in town” is what she had to say. I loved the confidence, and was eager to try although Spartanburg is a modestly-sized town. I was not misled. It's still a drive away(getting to Greenville), but at this point I am visiting the restaurant at least weekly and it is weekly that I find myself thankful for the results of that chance coinflip.. because frankly this place has cemented itself as my happy place. There is enough spice to bring me to tears, and admittedly I've nearly been moved to tears with how much kindness, comfort, and respect I have been afforded here. That is not to say I'm special or have inflated importance: my point being that Cima greets and treats every customer as genuine family. In the type of restaurant I'd sought for years, in the phase of life in which I found it, it feels like all my hopes for what a spot could be came true when finding Persis. You may conclude this review is drenched in emotion and not enough about food. A sentimental guy is entitled to his sentimental review, okay? The core point to drive home here being the food -is- the emotion. From a menu in which you very much can't go wrong, with flavor profiles as multi-faceted as the human personality itself: I recommend my latest fixation Shrimp Khorma, or my all-time personal favorite dish, Baingan Bharta. There is always Vindaloo, for any who share an inclination for spice. Each dish is made from the heart, and it is by that avenue a communication is made. A heart-to-heart dialogue on life's more important aspects: good food, community, and a carefree attitude that makes any day a fulfilling one. Qualities all in which Cima and Persis embody impeccably. I'm blessed to have a place to show up, leave any worries at the door, and simply enjoy some of the best food out there. That is a blessing made better by sharing. yea the restaurant's good

  • Persis Biryani Indian Grill has THE BEST Indian food that I’ve ever eaten. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala quick lunch combo that comes with chai tea and dessert. The tea is a personal blend that Cami, the owner, created. Delicious isn’t a powerful enough adjective to describe the food and drinks. What word is better than delicious? The food is brilliantly seasoned, not over powering, just right. I will be telling all my friends about this place. I feel so luck to have found this charming restaurant. Btw- they have won numerous awards for their incredible dishes. They have an all you can eat buffet on weekends. They are also running a BOGO for new customers. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

  • I cannot say enough about my experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the warm welcome from the owner, Cima, set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for guests make you feel less like a customer and more like family. Now, the food—absolutely phenomenal! I had the Lamb Khorma paired with Rosemary and Garlic Naan, and it was hands-down the best Indian food I have ever had. The lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned, with flavors that were rich without being heavy. The naan was soft, fresh, and baked to perfection. If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Indian cuisine paired with exceptional service, look no further. Cima and her team have created something truly special here. I’ll be back again and again!

  • We had such an amazing experience at Persis Biryani Indian Grill tonight! After just a few visits, it is officially our hands down favorite Indian anywhere in the Greenville area. Cami, the owner, creates such a warm and friendly environment and the food is simply outstanding. I usually indulge in their paneer tikka masala, which I love, but this time I had the dosa with potatoes, mint chutney and a sambar soup. Superb. We also had a cauliflower gobi Manchurian and a biryani chicken 65. I should’ve taken more pics of the food but I was so overwhelmed while eating, it totally slipped my mind! The dosa is award winning in Greenville and I now know why. We left full and extremely happy. Try it- you will love it too!

  • I come almost every sunday for the buffet and it is always great! They consistently have good familiar options in either chicken tikka masala or butter chicken. They also have offerings that I'm less familiar with, but always impressed when I try them. This sunday they had shrimp masala and some spiced grits which made for a PHENOMENAL shrimp and grits fusion dish. The dosa station is always amazing. Anyone looking to try indian cuisine, but aren't sure where to start, should come here. You won't be dissappointed!

  • This restaurant has tasty food, great service and a nice atmosphere. What more could you want? We had no idea why we were the only ones dining in on Monday for lunch. Ordering the lunch specials was easy because there were only 4 combos available (but the menu has many more options). I selected the vegetable combo and it had a nicely spiced vegetable curry. My lunch date selected the Tikka masala with chicken. This dish was tasty and very mildly spiced in a creamy tomato base. Each combo came with Basmati rice, naan bread, lentil crisp, fried veggies, dessert, and a very powerful chai tea. Super yummy! Try it out. They offer a buffet lunch on different days. I almost forgot to take a picture. This one was taken after I dove in!
